I keep one of this weird fish with three common goldfish. He seems to be a nasty fin-nipper. Are all T-barbs like that? Or does it depend on individual specimens?

Well, I understand many barbs can be nippy, for example the Tiger Barb, if not kept in large groups. But there are some exceptions like the Cherry Barb who are very peaceful. I asume it is nippy because he is alone. You should probably just move him to a tank by himself or, better, get him some buddies, preferably 4-5.

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately it's impossible to get them in my LFS unless I order them. I got this one by accident, as this one somehow "mixed in" when a group of loaches came into the store. Ordering fish at my LFS takes at lease a month before the fish comes. I suppose I will have to put it in my 1G tank, but I am worried that he will pick on the small lapeyes in there.

Thanks again for your help Very Happy
