Is it difficult to care for cichlids? Many people have them, but i try to control myself from getting them because i think that they need very special water and other stuff my parents would not be commited to paying for.

Cichlids are generally hardy and easy to take care of. Lots of Arfican species needs to have water with a pH around 9.0. They are mostly territorial and aggressive, so it's better not to mix them with peaceful fishes.

i have had no problem at all with cichlids they just need plenty of places to hide

Kribs are a good choice. Very easy to keep, only need small tanks, peaceful and easy to breed.
